Pretty unusual to see CC Rider in the second set - less than 10% of the plays. Also pretty rare to see a Good Lovin' encore, lesss than 2% of plays.

Check this one out
Classic early 80s Dead at their best. They jammed out at this show for sure. Not the best recording in the world but very listenable. I'd love to have a pristine copy of this. Super show, play loudly.

One of the Best Brent Shows
9/12/81 is in my top five favorite shows I saw from 1977-1995, and is easily one of the top two or three of the pre-coma Brent era. As close to perfect Dead as you are likely to find in the early 1980's.

Skip FOTD and El Paso
This is a real nice show. Not great.
Friend of the Devil and El Paso are weak, but the rest is real good. Highlights are Shakedown, Cassidy and Fire. Bob's slide guitar on CC is a bit hard to take.

Agree wholeheartedly with Dead72. The best sounding recordings I have ever heard all have something in common: Charlie Miller.
I just go straight for the ones he has worked on--his name IS a tried, true and trusted imprimatur of the quality of that recording.
Thank you Charlie!

I'll download any tape, audience or soundboard, if Charlie Miller's name is attached to it. This run is pretty good, the man makes every tape he gets sound it's best.

Today 10/12/09 there are 7 versions of this here and I listened to each one partially to judge relative audio quality.
This one has been tampered with. It has been EQed. It does not have a clean natural microphone sound. That and the Dolby probably wasn't decoded properly. Hissy and smeared sounding
in a way that a master cassette should not sound.
I would put this at number 6 or 7 of the versions here.

This source has more presence and punch than the others. The bass response dives deeper and generally has more sound.
Maybe a few rows in front of the other rigs
